The Tłı̨chǫ VR headset contains a 20 minute virtual reality experience that allows viewers to see eight different locations in 3D video.

Before you begin:

Sanitizing the headset

In between each use, you should sanitize your facial interface, nose area, and controllers with lightly-moistened, nonabrasive antibacterial wipes.

Alcohol wipes shouldn’t be used on lenses, but may be used on other headset components. Alcohol wipes can damage lenses, so use them with caution. For lenses, a simple glass cleaning wipe will suffice.

Navigating with your hands

The Quest headset can be operated using touch controllers or using or a series of hand gestures.

Once you have launched the Tłı̨chǫ VR application, navigating is even simpler: pushing a button with the palm of your hand.

Opening the Tłı̨chǫ VR app

From the home screen tap on the Library icon.
Tap the “All” button.
Select “Unknown Sources”.
Select “TlichoVR” to launch the app.

Setting up your boundary

When using the Tłı̨chǫ VR app for the first time or in a new space, the headset will want to confirm where the floor is. Follow the instructions on screen.
It may also ask you to set up a virtual boundary. Since this is a seated experience you need to chose a “stationary boundry”.

Using the Tłı̨chǫ VR app

The first view is a darkened room with a button with a tent on it. After a few seconds a text (English) and audio (Tłı̨chǫ Yahti) instructions prompt the viewer to push the button.
Pushing the button brings the viewer into the inside of a hunting cabin.
A series of location images and control buttons appear. Pressing the arrow buttons cycles through the location images.
Pushing the eye button brings the viewer into the selected location.

While in the location you can look all around you. Pressing on the speech bubble plays a short audio clip (English) about that particular location.

Pressing on the tent button brings you back to the hunting cabin where you can chose a new location.

There are eight locations to choose from:

  1. checking fishing nets
  2. a gravesite
  3. handgames
  4. Nàı̨lı̨ı̨ falls
  5. Footprint Rock
  6. smoking fish
  7. hide tanning
  8. drum dance
